When it comes to breast enhancement, size doesn’t matter.
Getting the look and shape you want….
Urban myth: All women seeking ‘boob jobs’ want
much bigger breasts.
Fact: In a recent survey of more than 1,300 women
interested in breast enhancement surgery, over 80% said they are
happy with their cup size or desire a one cup size increase.
Contrary to popular belief, the most common reason for breast
enhancement surgery is not simply an increase in the size of the
breasts but rather an improvement in shape and symmetry. In fact,
the survey found that 70% of women interested in breast enhancement
want to talk to their surgeon about shape. Fixing sagging breasts
or restoring shape and definition lost after having children are
two of the most common reasons why women consider breast
enhancement surgery.
Call out: Top 5 desires of women considering breast enhancement
surgery
- 32% Reverse sagging
- 29% Restore shape (post-children)
- 29% Increase size or volume
- 15% General enhancement to shape
- 8% Correct a problem symmetry
“We also know that confidence in the surgeon is a significant
factor for women choosing to go ahead with breast enhancement
surgery,” says Dr Peter Hodgkinson, a leading plastic surgeon based
in Newcastle. “That’s why I’m pleased to introduce the latest
assessment technique into my practice.”
One of the hardest aspects of the consultation is for the
surgeon to show a patient what she will look like after surgery.
Every woman is different, and every woman has individual desires
and expectations about breast enhancement. The new assessment
technique takes advantage of sophisticated computer modelling and
allows the surgeon to develop a personalised image of the potential
results. Using a special bra and correctly sized implants, the
patient can actually see and feel what the results from surgery may
be like.
Peter Hodgkinson says: “The great thing about this new system is
that I can really help patients visualise what they will look like
after surgery. The fun part of my job is to see someone’s eyes
light up when she sees what her potential new shape will look like
under clothing. I have patients who don’t want to take the special
bra off once we have completed the initial assessment as they are
so happy with their new projected look and feel!”
Vive Cosmetics, in Newcastle, a leading provider of day case
surgery in the region, is the first cosmetic provider in the north
east to offer this individualised approach - called the BioDynamic™
system.
