Rhinoplasty and Septoplasty – The Difference
You may have heard of one or even both of these surgical
procedures, but do you know the difference between the
two?
It is important to understand the difference between these two
surgical procedures, so that you can decide what operation is most
suitable for you. Some people get confused about these terms, so
this guide should explain the differences for you.
Septoplasty – What It Is
Septoplasty is an operation performed for medical reasons only
and is used to repair a deviated septum in most cases. The shape of
the septum can be misshapen due to defects or deformities and this
is why some people decide that a septoplasty operation is
necessary. This type of surgery is quite different to a standard
nose job, and there are certain symptoms you should look out for,
as these could indicate that you need a septoplasty operation:
- Sinus infections
- Nosebleeds
- Stuffy nose (one or both sides)
- Facial pain and / or headache
Although a medical procedure and separate to a rhinoplasty, in
some cases the septoplasty can be performed during a rhinoplasty
procedure. This is then referred to as a septorhinoplasty.
Rhinoplasty – Reshape The Nose
A rhinoplasty is a cosmetic procedure where the whole nose is
reshaped. It can help men and women of all ages who are looking to
alter the shape of their nose. It is a very common form of cosmetic
surgery and one that many people are happy to undergo in order to
see an improvement to their face. Over a number of years, it can
make you feel quite demoralised when you think there is nothing you
can do about the size and / or shape of your nose, but rhinoplasty
is the answer.
Opting For A Rhinoplasty Operation
If you have known for a while that you want to have a
rhinoplasty operation, then now is the time to speak with a
specialist cosmetic surgery clinic who will be able to advise you
of the next steps. Reshaping your nose is an ideal way to regain
your confidence and harmonise the dimensions of your face and bone
structure.
What you may not know is that rhinoplasty can be easily combined
with other cosmetic procedures, such as face lifts and brow lifts,
which will all help you to achieve the ideal facial features.
