Rhinoplasty – The Recovery Time
When you decide to have rhinoplasty surgery, it is always good
to know what to expect in advance of your cosmetic operation.
After your rhinoplasty surgery, you will be in the “recovery
period”. This is the time when you will notice the changes to your
facial appearance. Although one of the most common cosmetic
procedures, many people are still unaware of what the after effects
of rhinoplasty are, so it is useful to be prepared and know what to
expect.
Rhinoplasty – The First 24 Hours
After surgery, you are likely to feel your face is quite
enlarged, but this is just slight “puffiness” which will go down
after a while. Your nose is likely to ache due to the surgery, but
prescribed medication should be able to minimise the discomfort you
may feel. Most patients do not focus on the pain after surgery, as
they are so excited to see their new nose and this gives them a
renewed confidence and determination.
There will be slight bruising and swelling of the eyes after the
surgery, but this is expected and should be gone 2-3 weeks
later.
Rhinoplasty – The Next Few Days
Within the few days that follow your rhinoplasty surgery, you
may find that you experience a little bleeding, but this is common
and nothing to worry about. Blowing your nose after surgery is not
advisable as it can prevent the nasal tissue from healing properly.
You will have to learn the art of breathing through your mouth for
a few days after surgery, so that the rhinoplasty can be a
success.
Rhinoplasty – The Weeks That Follow
As a recent rhinoplasty patient, even after a few weeks you will
still be expected to follow an easy routine so as not to undo any
of the stitches etc. This routine should not involve any strenuous
activity and exercise of any kind should ideally be avoided. Think
of it as a great relaxation time; curling up on the sofa and having
lazy days in front of the TV. This will give your new nose chance
to heal and with less moving about, there is less likelihood that
you will pull the stitches.
Rhinoplasty – A Success!
After adhering to the cosmetic surgery’s post surgery advice,
you will soon have the bandages and stitches removed to reveal a
wonderful new nose, and you will no doubt feel that the operation
has been more than worth it.
